In the same-named text by Derrida, he appeals to the eardrum as that membrane in contact with the outer and the inner ear, putting in contact the outside with the inside. The present work takes as departure point some passages of the Derrida’s text, like the one that names the work, in order to build a sound discourse over the border between the realms of words and music, of text and context, of inside and outside; a discourse that develops along the extremely slow evolution of the repetition of the question “How to unbalance the pressures that correspond to each other on either side of the membrane?”
