“Passage”, for four percussionists and around 50 performers in the public space, is a work that explores the transition from a virtualized inner world mediated by screens to the openness of the external environment. It traces a passage from the containment of an enclosed experience to the overflow generated by its emergence into public space. The work initiates a discourse whose content is ultimately displaced by the multiplicity of narratives, encounters, and meanings that emerge through an unpredictable dialogue with the public realm.
The piece always begins indoors, with a fixed section for four percussionists and four projections. It then moves outdoors through the intervention of local performers, unfolding a distinct sonic discourse and listening situation that is newly created through a site-specific dialogue with the performance location and its social and spatial context.
Premiered in its first version in Barcelona (Mixtur Festival) in 2024, this second version was be premiered at the Voldsløkka Culture School Oslo and its surrounding area, featuring Frames Percussion as the core quartet alongside a group of local and amateur performers.
